Grossman V. Obo mne ne bespokojsja. Perepiska

Author Grossman V.
Title Obo mne ne bespokojsja. Perepiska
Description This volume offers readers the first substantial publication of the letters of Vasily Grossman, one of the major writers of the twentieth century. Most of the letters included here appear in print for the first time. Compiled by Yulia Volokhova and Anna Krasnikova, specialists in Grossman’s life and work, the book consists of three main sections: Grossman’s letters to his father; the correspondence between Grossman and his wife, Olga Guber; and Grossman’s letters to Ekaterina Zabolotskaya. These three correspondents belonged to Grossman’s closest circle, and the letters exchanged with them over almost forty years disclose much about his personality and his relations with family, friends and colleagues. We see Grossman becoming a writer, passing through the war, fighting for the publication of the novel Stalingrad, also known as For a Just Cause, writing Life and Fate, his central work, and living through his difficult final years. The edition is supplied with a scholarly apparatus, including an introductory essay, page-by-page commentary, notes, an annotated name index and a register of sources. The book also contains photographs, many of them previously unfamiliar to the general reader.
