Polozkova V. Lost and found

Author Polozkova V.
Title Lost and found
Description Vera Polozkova’s Lost and Found gathers poems written between 2021 and 2024, in years marked by exile and by her mother’s death. The book grows out of rupture, yet it keeps searching for a form that can hold love after separation. Polozkova writes about life outside Russia without any decorative émigré pose. She also writes to the dead, and above all to her mother, whose presence runs through the collection with unusual force. Several earlier poems stand beside the new ones, and in this setting they sound altered, because history has changed the air around them. What matters most here is the wish to keep speaking to those one loves, even when distance and loss have made ordinary speech impossible. Lost and Found shows Polozkova at a harder and more inward stage of her writing, where clarity carries more weight than display.
