| Description | Montenegrin Alphabet is a series of 30 drawings by the Russian artist Alexander Florensky, conceived as an authorial illustrated guide to Montenegro. Each letter of the local alphabet corresponds to a separate drawing of a landmark, an important place or a scene from everyday life in the country. The book forms part of the large-scale authorial cycle City Alphabets, which also includes Jerusalem Alphabet, Tbilisi Alphabet, St Petersburg Alphabet and others, where geography is reimagined through art. The book was created during the artist’s residency in the town of Budva and reflects the atmosphere, architecture and distinctive colour of the Adriatic coast. |
