Title | "Ljubov, druzhba, vechnost" Usto Mumina |
Description | Boris Chukhovich's book "Love, Friendship, Eternity by Usto Mumin" is dedicated to the first and most significant creative cycle of the artist Alexander Nikolaev (Usto Mumin), created after his move from Moscow to Central Asia in 1920 and his conversion to Islam in 1922. Focusing on the analysis of the cycle's central work, the tempera "Love, Friendship, Eternity" (1928), the author demonstrates the history of art historical descriptions of Usto Mumin's works, the stylistic sources of his work and the formal features of his language. He pays special attention to the characteristics and evolution of Daniil Stepanov's Samarkand art circle, of which Usto Mumin was a member from 1921 to 1924. Among the artists of this almost unknown community were Alexei Isupov, Nikolai Mamontov and Viktor Ufimtsev, and briefly Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin and Alexander Samokhvalov. |
