| Title | Lekcii po antichnoj filosofii. Ocherk sovremennoj filosofii |
| Description | Merab Mamardashvili (1930–1990) was one of the most significant thinkers of the second half of the twentieth century. This edition includes two lecture courses delivered by Mamardashvili to students at VGIK. In the lectures on ancient philosophy (1980), the central subject is the problem of being as it appears within the space of ancient Greek thought. In the reflections of Greek philosophers, the author follows the fundamental principles that lie at the basis of the ancient ideal of thinking and, later, of the European ideal of understanding the world and the human being. The lectures on contemporary European philosophy (1978–1979) are devoted to the main recurring ideas that form the core of twentieth-century philosophical culture. Turning to the works of Kierkegaard, Marx, Nietzsche, Freud, Husserl, Wittgenstein, Heidegger, Sartre and others, Mamardashvili identifies the ideas that pass through different schools and create a certain unity of style in contemporary philosophical thought. |
