Description	“Poems 2003–2013” brings together works written by Vasily Lomakin over the course of a decade and traces the development of one of the more distinctive voices in contemporary Russian poetry. In Lomakin’s texts, colloquial and deliberately rough language collides with a vast range of literary, historical and classical imagery; familiar cultural structures disintegrate and return in unexpected, often unsettling and grotesque forms. His poetry is characterised by linguistic ruptures, abrupt shifts between elevated and everyday registers, a strong sense of the physicality of language and the constant presence of cultural memory, which ceases to function as a safe inheritance and becomes almost a kind of “phantom pain”. The book continues the poetic work begun in the collections “Russian Shadows” and “Subsequent Texts”; the latter received the Andrei Bely Prize. The volume includes an introductory essay by Kirill Kobrin.
