Goralik L. Bobo

Goralik L. Bobo

Author Goralik L.
Title Bobo
Description Bobo is a white elephant given by a Turkish sultan to the Russian tsar. Bobo dreams of becoming a war elephant and serving his new ruler. He moves through present-day Russia, with its war and its resistance, with its wealth and its poverty, with its smug comfort and its fear of nuclear disaster. Along the way, Bobo speaks with warblers and designers, with poets and embezzlers, with clergy and pigs. He makes history, though only in moments of complete detachment. Half a year after the novel was written, part of this same route would be followed by Prigozhin’s Wagner mutiny, which, unlike Bobo, never reached its destination. When asked who Bobo is, Linor Goralik answers in a Flaubertian way: “Bobo is me.”

Linor Goralik is a writer, a poet, an artist, and a scholar of costume, and she works as a marketing consultant. She is the author of many books for adults and for children. Since 2022, she has been the creator and editor-in-chief of the online journal ROAR: Herald of Anti-War and Opposition Culture and of the project News-26: Russian Politics for Teenagers.
