Navalny began writing the book in Germany after his poisoning in 2020, continued after his return to Russia and his arrest while he was still able to pass notes to the outside world. On 16 February 2024, he was murdered in a colony in Kharp, above the Arctic Circle. As he joked himself, one can think of a term in the colony as a long space journey. And this book, too, turned out to be a last message from interstellar space.
